OC Council NESA Chapter Youth Officers
Currently registered Eagle Scouts are encouraged to serve as Orange County Council NESA Chapter Youth Officers. Youth officers are active, voting members of the NESA committee, providing leadership and service to strategic initiatives including the annual Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner, Eagle Scout alumni gatherings, Scout-o-Rama booth judging, and NESA membership development.
Youth officer positions include President, Vice President and up to eleven District Representatives. Youth officers are expected to attend the monthly NESA chapter meetings and District Representatives are also expected to attend monthly district roundtables to help share our program and objectives with unit representatives.
The Youth Officer term is currently being realigned from a calendar year term to an academic year term. The new term will run from June 1st of one year to May 31st of the next year. |

Anthony Bui, NESA Youth President
Anthony Bui is a sophomore attending Troy High School where he is a student of the Troy Tech and International Baccalaureate programs. He is ranked in the top 5% of his class.Anthony was elected by peers to represent the Troy High School Student Body (9-12) at School Site council meetings with parents, administrators, teachers and classified employers to discuss and vote on school goals, curriculum, budget, as well as report to Fullerton Joint Union High School District. He is also a member of the Team Hepatitis B Virus Social Media Outreach Committee. Selected to a group of 10 international students, he’s a part of a coterie dedicated to spreading awareness of HBV through various platforms. Within this committee, his personal commitment is to translate interviews, speeches, and HBV information into Vietnamese. His other extracurricular include Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Peer Tutoring Club and Academic Decathlon.
He joined Scouting at the age of 8 with Pack 475, then bridged over to Troop 412, and currently dual enrolled in Venturing Crew 1910 as well. “Scouting has forged me into a person with a desire for spearheading community service, appreciation for the outdoors and an intrinsically valuable moral code.” He earned his Eagle Scout in May 2015 and currently has 122 merit badges. |

CJ Writer, NESA Youth Vice President
CJ Writer is a native Californian who is currently a junior at Orange Lutheran High School and an Eagle Scout with Anaheim Hills Troop 538. CJ has enjoyed the Scouting program since he was 7 years old. He has served his troop and Order of the Arrow in many leadership positions including Patrol Leader, Historian, OA Rep, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Koshare Chapter Vigil Chief and is currently Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and Koshare Chapter Secretary.
CJ’s Eagle Project was to design and plant 4 Water Conservation Gardens at the Lenain Water Treatment Facility in Anaheim Hills. Each garden is over 1,000 square feet. The gardens include: Succulent Garden, Butterfly & Hummingbird Garden, Edible Garden and California Native Garden. It took 298 plants, 18,000 lbs of rock, 10 long and hard workdays, help from 628 volunteers, just under 2,000 hours of work and approximately $10,000 in donations.
CJ is excited to stay active in Scouting by being involved with Troop 538 and Koshare Chapter of OA. CJ is currently researching college and would like to earn a degree in Biology and eventually work in the medical field. CJ credits his dedication to school and drive for success to Scouting. |
